HOPE

There is one word that symbolises Beat Kidney Stones and that is HOPE.
Hope to improve treatments and hope to abolish kidney stones for ever.
Snowdrops are also symbols of HOPE.
So the representative flower of Beat Kidney Stones is the Snowdrop.
This picture represents the millions of people in the U.K. and world wide who suffer from Kidney Stones and HOPE to never have another kidney stone.

How to preserve and show your kidney stone

In the Beat Kidney Stones Facebook posts one sufferer told this Charity he makes a visual presentation of all the kidney stones he has passed. His intention is to try and inspire a researcher by creating an easy to see collation of information that may just trigger a research idea. At the very least he is able to easily present his kidney stone history to any Clinician.

At the top of each page he writes his date of birth, gender, the general part of his area/post code, country, his body mass index, an estimation of how much water he drinks each day and a one word description of the weather prior to the stone's first movement.

Each of his stones is stuck to a the paper with see through tape so that the stone is not damaged but easily seen.

By the side of each stone he records the date when he first became aware a stone was moving.

Then the date when he passed that stone.

He records which analgesics were prescribed, how many taken and their effectiveness.

He records the type of antibiotic he is prescribed and how many courses he takes per stone.
